Article by Lynn Smith
The Blackhawks made a daring statement in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup betting series again San Jose Sharks. In the opening gameof the Western Conference Finals betting the Hawks defied the NHL odds and took Game 1 of the hockey betting series with non-stop action and a late goal to bring it home.
Hockey betting fans have been looking forward to this matchup of the ultimate competitors in the West for as long as anyone can remember and Game 1 of this NHL playoff betting series did not disappoint. Both San Jose and Chicago played their guts out and the level of the sportsmanship was phenomenal. San Jose (51-20-11) got on board first with a sharp wrister from Jason Demers on the power play that took Hawk’s goal keeper by surprise, Antti Niemi.
But apart from that only amazing goal that bounced off the cross bar, Neiemi was a force to be reckoned with through three periods of Stanley Cup betting competition. He blocked 44 of 45 shots and was a huge part of the Hawks success. Chicago scored in the second period of the game and never looked back. Patrick Sharp netted his six goal of the NHL playoff betting action with 7:44 left in the period and Dustin Byfuglien shot the game winner with 13:15 left in period three.
The Sharks had plenty of good looks on goal in the closing minutes and even finished the game with a power play but Niemi was too good and he got plenty of help from his defensemen. For NHL hockey betting fans this game was a dream come true and more. So far through one game of the Stanley Cup betting action this series is exactly what hockey dreams are made of.
Both the Sharks and the Hawks defense was superb and goals were few and far between. Niemi stole the show but his counterpart, Sharks keeper Egevni Nabokov was nearly as good saving 38 of 40 goal attempts and made life very challenging for Hawks forwards all three periods. Surprisingly after a week layoff the Shark’s didn’t look like they ever had a break and it was actually the Hawks that looked like they had been on vacation and had to warm up during the NHL betting action. Game 2 will pick up where this one left off and be another exciting Game.
