The Brockport men’s soccer side went 1-1 throughout the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10 at the Stevens organization of Technology (SIT) soccer tournament. On Friday, Sept. 9 Brockport (3-2) was successful in a 2-1 overtime victory next to the hosting SIT. Junior defender Brian Duffy nets the game-winner with six minutes residual in the extra time period. It was Duffy’s second objective of the season.reshman midfielder Max Egan set up the go-ahead goal with a pass Duffy was able to head in for the contest-clinching score. SIT outshot Brockport 21-6, but elder goalie Kyle Sauln hauled in eight saves to keep the Golden Eagles afloat. However, their momentum couldn’t carry over to the fair-haired Eagles’ Saturday competition up with Kean University (N.J.). Brockport drop their second game of the tournament 1-0 on Saturday, Sept. 10.”The competition last weekend was definitely a tough one aligned with two teams that were also in the NCAA tournament previous year,” senior guardian Brian Gildemeyer said. “Even though we didn’t play a good pastime against Kean, we absolutely had more heart than in our game previous week (against Nazareth).”Brockport couldn’t attain a goal against Kean further education college (New Jersey), despite out-shooting their enemy 14-11. Kean held the advantage in curve kicks, 3-1, and Kean out-fouled the Brockport squad, 18-15.”We shut them out every single one game, then we had one error and they capitalized on it,” senior attacker Brian Gildemeyer said. “As tutor (Gary LaPietra)would say, as complex as the game can be, it fundamentally comes down to putting the sphere in the goal, and we weren’t able to obtain it done.”Sauln recorded five saves in the Kean beat, as he brought his season save fraction up to .846 with 22 saves next to four goals allowed. He will try to remain his sharp play up as the Golden Eagles prepare for the meeting play portion of their schedule.Brockport hosts out-of-conference Medaille College at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. After that the team takes on ten SUNYAC opponents in a row. The fair-haired Eagles will host Buffalo State and Fredonia on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24, in that order. Last season, Brockport defeated confuse State, 2-1. They lost their 2010 matchup by means of Fredonia in a 1-0 overtime game.Brockport has scored four goals and permissible four goals thus far into the period. The sturdy defensive play has agreed over from last season, but the evil doing will need to be more prolific for the team to find the accomplishment that they have had in recent years.”Our new philosophy is so as to we need to score near the beginning and often,” Gildemeyer said. “We can’t win a pastime on just defense alone. We are civilizing though, which is good because there’s nothing worse than peak at the beginning of the season.”
